Capital One Data Breach Investigation

May 30 – The Capital One data breach is being investigated by the data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. The data breach was reported after the company was affected in a recent third party cybersecurity attack at NCB Management Services, LLC. As a result of the data breach, the  names, addresses, Social Security numbers, account numbers, and account status of certain individuals was compromised. The Capital One data breach is believed to have impacted as many as 16,779 individuals.

What Happened and What Information Was Involved in the Capital One Data Breach?

According to the Attorney General of Maine, Capital One reported a data breach after they were affected in a recent third party cyber security attack at NCB Management Services, a debt collection company. NCB learned that an unauthorized party had accessed the company’s computer system on February 1, 2023 and through an investigation, they learned that some of the files accessed on their computer network contained confidential consumer information belonging to Capital One customers. On May 26, 2023, Capital One sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
