Our client was babysitting her two grandchildren the afternoon of a serious accident in Stratford, New Jersey. They were all riding as passengers in car her husband was driving when another driver made a careless left-hand turn in front of the family. Our client’s husband tried to avoid the other car, but a tree prevented him from safely swerving to the right and he was forced to swerve back toward the left. The two vehicles collided. The impact caused our client multiple injuries and pain in her back, neck, and arm.

Following the collision, an ambulance transported our client to a nearby emergency room, where medical professionals performed numerous tests including X-rays and MRIs. Our client had suffered multiple strains and sprains, disc herniation, carpel tunnel syndrome, and chest wall contusion, among other injuries. The patient subsequently sought the care of many medical providers, including her primary care physician, an orthopedic doctor, a chiropractor, a pain management doctor, an acupuncturist, and a neurosurgeon. The victim underwent months of physical therapy and a series of epidural injections. Still, these many treatment attempts provided only limited or temporary relief, if any, for our client. She ultimately was forced to undergo microdiskectomy surgery. After the surgery, our client endured months of rehabilitation, including more physical therapy.

Despite all of this treatment, our client’s injuries are permanent, as is the effect on her life. She lives with pain and discomfort on a daily basis. She now has problems doing the things she used to do, like cleaning the floors and windows of her home, gardening, and picking up her grandchildren. Though nothing can undo the irreversible damage our client suffered as a result of the crash, our office recovered on her behalf $210,000 from the insurance company of the at-fault driver and an additional $15,000 from the underinsured motorist coverage on her own auto insurance policy. The total settlement of $225,000 will help our client and her family as they cope with the physical and financial repercussions of the accident.
