Every motorist has a responsibility to be aware of their surroundings, whether they’re driving on a busy highway or just backing out of a driveway. When they don’t pay enough attention, innocent people – like our client, who was hit while driving south on Nautilus Drive in Stafford Township, New Jersey, one January afternoon – are too often the ones stuck with the irreversible consequences.
Our client’s drive through Ocean County took a disastrous turn when another driver backed out of a driveway and into the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle. This other driver was clearly at fault. He failed to observe the traffic around him, yield the right of way, and stop his vehicle when he should have. His careless behavior behind the wheel cost our client substantially.
An ambulance took our client immediately to the emergency room at the Southern Ocean County Medical Center. His chief complaint was his left shoulder, in which he had suffered a torn rotator cuff. He also sustained minor bony injuries to two ribs and developed disc protrusions and bulges in the lumbar region of his spine. Our client’s injuries proved to be not only serious, but life-changing and lifelong. He underwent numerous diagnostic tests, including X-rays, MRIs, and a Whole Body Bone Scan. His medical treatments included epidural injections to treat his back pain, physical therapy for his left shoulder, and surgery to repair the rotator cuff tear.
Despite the medical care our client has already received, he continues to need more treatment, and his injuries continue to affect his daily life. We recovered $335,000 to help him and his family through this difficult time and to cover the costs of our client’s future care. Now the only thing he has to worry about is making the best physical recover he possibly can.
