Data Breach AlertAugust 15, 2022 – Texas Meter & Device Company (“TMD”) reported a data breach after the company was targeted in a recent cybersecurity attack. As a result of the breach, the name and other unreported sensitive data of certain individuals was compromised. On August 9, 2022, TMD sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.

Texas Meter & Device Company (“TMD”) is writing to inform you of a recent incident that may impact the privacy of some of your information. We are providing you with this notice, which provides details about the incident, our response to it, and the resources available to assist you in safeguarding your information, should you feel it is appropriate to do so.

What Happened? We recently experienced a security incident that temporarily impacted the operability of our computer systems. We immediately commenced an investigation and learned that certain files on the TMD network were accessed by an unauthorized actor between June 11 th and June 15 th , 2022. We undertook a thorough review of the affected files to determine whether any potentially sensitive information was present within them. On July 27, 2022, we completed this review and determined that your information was contained in the affected files, which is why you are receiving this notice.

What Information Was Involved? We confirmed that the information present in the affected files included your name; [Redacted]. There is no evidence that identity theft or fraud occurred as a result of this incident.

What We Are Doing. Safeguarding the information entrusted to us is one of our top priorities. We responded immediately to this incident, promptly notified law enforcement authorities, and have been working diligently to provide you with an accurate notice of the incident as soon as possible. We instituted additional safeguards to further secure the information stored on our network following this incident. We are also reviewing and enhancing our existing policies and procedures as it relates to data security.

As an added precaution, we are providing you with 12 months of complimentary access to triple-bureau credit monitoring and identity protection services through IDX. Although we are covering the cost of these services, due to privacy restrictions, you will need to complete the activation process yourself using the enrollment instructions included in the enclosed Steps You Can Take to Protect Personal Information.

What You Can Do. We encourage you to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud by reviewing your account statements and monitoring your free credit reports for suspicious activity and to detect errors.
