September 7 – The Planet Home Lending, LLC data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Planet Home Lending data breach resulted in the sensitive information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Montana, Planet Home Lending reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Planet uses the MOVEit file-transfer application, which is a software product developed by Progress Software. On June 1, 2023, Planet learned that MOVEit suffered from a critical and previously unknown vulnerability. This vulnerability allowed unauthorized parties to access companies’ MOVEit servers. The company took immediate action to mitigate the threat and then launched an investigation into the incident.
The Planet Home Lending investigation confirmed that, on May 29, 2023, an unauthorized party was able to access files containing personally identifiable information of certain customers. On August 31, 2023, Planet Home Lending sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
