Sig Sauer P320 Handgun Claims

Sig Sauer P320 ClaimsYou knew the risks that are associated with weapons when you bought a Sig Sauer P320 handgun since you are a responsible gun owner. And you reasonably believed that by being cautious, adhering to all safety rules regarding guns, and securely storing your weapon, you might reduce these risks. The last thing you anticipated was for your Sig Sauer to start firing unexpectedly. It has been reported by consumers recently that the P320 has the propensity to discharge without warning and on its own.

Sig Sauer P320 handgun owners should be aware of their legal options if they or a loved one have been hurt by a faulty weapon and want to seek compensation from the manufacturer. As discussed in earlier posts, manufacturers must ensure their goods are safe for consumers to use as advertised. This is particularly true when the item in question is as intrinsically deadly as a weapon. Despite the fact that Sig Sauer has not announced a P320 recall, victims of significant injuries caused by the unintentional discharge of a P320 may file a product liability claim against the company.

Those curious about filing a Sig Sauer lawsuit should get in touch with a lawyer well-versed in cases involving defective firearms immediately. Contact our product liability lawyers at 866-778-5500 or complete our online form to schedule a free consultation.

Sig Sauer Disputes Claims of Owners that P320 Accidentally Discharges

Even though every handgun has some level of risk, those hazards may be considerably mitigated if the firearm is handled safely. There have been reservations by consumers after reports of the P320 accidentally discharging, and it raises significant questions about the gun’s lack of safety. Several P320 owners have said that their firearm discharged while it was still holstered.

According to Sig Sauer, the P320 is meant to fire when the trigger is pressed, which contradicts the experiences of certain owners. A Sig Sauer representative, in response to claims that the P320 discharges accidentally, said that the pistol “includes internal safeties that prevent the firearm from discharging without a trigger pull,” meaning that P320 owners whose guns fired must have mistakenly pushed the trigger. If a gun owner is worried about an accidental trigger pull, Sig Sauer believes they should have the option to install extra safety devices.

Is Sig Sauer Planning on Recalling the P320?

Complaints have been rolling in since 2017 of the dangers of carrying a Sig Sauer P320. Despite reports of unintentional discharge, Sig Sauer has not issued any recalls as of April 2023. The manufacturer has, however, made available to P320 owners a “Voluntary Upgrade” program. Trigger, sear, and striker weights have been reduced, and a mechanical disconnector has been included as part of the modification.

Are There Any Lawsuits Against Sig Sauer Relating to the P320 Unintentionally Firing?

Twenty plaintiffs have just launched a lawsuit against Sig Sauer, alleging that they were hurt by the company’s model P320 handguns, which allegedly discharged without the use of a trigger. Recent plaintiffs in this lawsuit include federal agents, police officers, and people who are proficient with firearms.

Another Sig Sauer case included footage of a police officer who, the plaintiff said, had a P320 misfire. An officer from the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office wore a body camera and recorded this footage.  On camera, the cop is seen waiting in his car at the side of the road. The cop exits the vehicle, and his P320 discharges while still in the holster. “As I exited the patrol vehicle, my weapon discharged while completely in the holster,” the officer said in his incident report.

As it seems that Sig Sauer has no intention of recalling the P320 and instead only offers a Voluntary Upgrade program, one of the intentions of the 20 plaintiffs is to push the company to recall the product and implement better safety measures on the faulty weapon.
