September 5 – The Acadia Health, LLC d/b/a Just Kids Dental (“JKD”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Just Kids Dental data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, driver’s license numbers, health insurance policy information, treatment information including radiographic images, medical record number, account number, and health conditions of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 129,623 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Just Kids Dental reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On August 8, 2023, Just Kids Dental learned that the week before, on August 2, 2023, the company was targeted in a cyberattack. Hackers used a program to encrypt JKD’s computer networks as well as the data stored on these systems and this included certain systems that the company uses to store patient and employee files. As a result, the company secured its systems and launched an investigation. The JKD investigation confirmed that the unauthorized party responsible for the attack was able to access confidential information belonging to certain patients and employees. On September 1, 2023, Just Kids Dental sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
