July 1 – The AltaMed Health Services Corporation data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The AltaMed Health Services data breach resulted in the names, mailing addresses, dates of birth, and email addresses, which may be linked to the Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. At this time, it is unclear how many individuals were affected.
According to the Attorney General of California, AltaMed Health Services reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. AltaMed contracts with the Vitality Group to provide services to AltaMed, which requires AltaMed to provide Vitality with information about its employees. Vitality uses the MOVEit file-transfer software, created by Progress Software, LLC. On May 30, 2023, Progress Software discovered a zero-day vulnerability that allowed an unauthorized party to access confidential information that was transferred using MOVEit. The vulnerability was discovered on June 1, 2023.
On June 30, 2023, the Vitality Group sent out data breach letters on behalf of AltaMed Health Services to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
