June 12 – The AtlantiCare data breach is being investigated by the data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. The data breach occurred due to third-party data breaches involving two other companies, Intellihartx, LLC (“ITx”) and Fortra, LLC which were targeted in recent cybersecurity attacks. The AtlantiCare data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, addresses, medical billing and insurance information, diagnoses and medications, and dates of birth of certain individuals being compromised. At this time, it is unknown how many individuals were affected.
According to a notice posted on the company’s website, AtlantiCare reported a data breach after they were advised of recent cyber security attacks at two of their vendors, Intellihartx, LLC (“ITx”) and Fortra, LLC. On February 2, 2023, IntelliHartx discovered that Fortra’s secure file transfer protocol system used by the company was subject to a data privacy event that may have impacted ITx clients’ patient information. As a result of the breach, Fortra deleted all unauthorized accounts, rebuilt the platform and released a patch to resolve the vulnerability. On June 9, 2023, AtlantiCare sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
