September 12 – The (Cadence Bank + any acronym [Cadence Bank aka “XYZ”]) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the data breach that was reported after the Cadence Bank was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Cadence Bank data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, and other personal data of certain individuals being compromised.
According to a post on the bank’s website, Cadence Bank reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On June 1, 2023, Cadence learned about a previously unknown vulnerability within MOVEit, a popular file-transfer application used by Cadence. This vulnerability originally became known on May 31, 2023.
After Cadence installed all patches released by Progress Software, the bank reported the incident to law enforcement. On June 18, 2023, the Cadence investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access confidential information stored within the MOVEit environment. This confirmed that the hackers had stolen Social Security numbers, financial account information, and various types of personal data.
On August 16th, 2023, Cadence Bank sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
Cadence Bank was established in 1876 and now stands as a prominent regional banking institution based in Tupelo, Mississippi. The financial services it offers include checking and savings accounts, credit cards, and mortgages, as well as business banking and insurance. The bank has more than 350 locations, over 6,479 employees, and an annual revenue of nearly $1.8 billion.
