November 3 – The Barrick Gold data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Barrick Gold data breach resulted in the sensitive information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Montana, Barrick Gold reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The company uses the MOVEit secure file-transfer program created by Progress Software. On May 31, 2023, Progress Software announced that MOVEit contained a critical vulnerability that gave unauthorized parties access to companies’ MOVEit servers. When Barrick Gold learned of the MOVEit vulnerability, the company launched an investigation that confirmed that certain files on the company’s MOVEit server were accessed and copied 
by an unauthorized party between May 28, 2023 and June 2, 2023. On October 27, 2023, Barrick Gold sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
