On October 6, 2023, TXWES experienced a network disruption that impacted employees’ ability to access parts of the school’s computer network. The university secured its systems and launched an investigation that is still ongoing but found evidence suggesting some files containing confidential consumer information were accessed by an unauthorized actor. On November 20, 2023, Texas Wesleyan University sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose 
information was affected by the breach.
