According to the Attorney General of Maine, the company has experienced a significant data breach. Delta Dental uses the MOVEit secure file-transfer program. On June 1, 2023, the company learned that unauthorized actors were able to exploit a vulnerability within MOVEit, allowing them to access files stored within the application. Delta Dental contained the incident and launched an investigation that confirmed that certain information stored on the company’s MOVEit platform was accessed and acquired by unauthorized parties between May 27, 2023 and May 30, 2023. On December 14, 2023, Delta Dental of California sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
