June 14 – The Commonwealth Health Physician Network – Cardiology (“Great Valley Cardiology”) data breach is being investigated by the data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. The data breach was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cybersecurity attack. The Great Valley Cardiology data breach resulted in the names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license and passport numbers, credit or debit card numbers, bank account numbers, and protected health information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 181,000 individuals.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (“HHS-OCR”), Great Valley Cardiology reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On April 13, 2023, Great Valley Cardiology was informed of a potential data security issue by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The company launched an investigation where they learnt that GoAnywhere file transfer service, developed by Fortra, LLC, suffered from a vulnerability which allowed an unauthorized party to gain access to Great Valley Cardiology patients’ confidential information. On June 12, 2023, Great Valley Cardiology sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
