July 9 – The Madison Area Technical College data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at National Student Clearinghouse. The Madison Area Technical College data breach resulted in the sensitive information of certain students being compromised.
According to a notice posted on their website, Madison Area Technical College reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at National Student Clearinghouse. NSC uses the MOVEit file transfer service which was created by Progress Software who announced a vulnerability affecting the MOVEit software. The vulnerability allowed unauthorized parties to access information that was transferred or stored on the MOVEit platform. Because NSC used MOVEit to transfer data provided by Madison College, students’ personal and confidential information may have been accessible to an unauthorized party. The investigation is still ongoing so at this time, it is unclear when Madison Area Technical College will send out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
