July 18 – The Milliman Solutions, LLC data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent cyber security attack at Pension Benefit Information, LLC. The Milliman Solutions, LLC data breach resulted in the names and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 1,280,823 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Milliman Solutions, LLC reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent cyber security attack at Pension Benefit Information, LLC. Milliman Solutions provides risk assessment services to clients, including life insurance companies. They use the services of Pension Benefit Information (“PBI”) to verify whether a consumer has passed away and so, they provide PBI with certain data about consumers.
On June 16, 2023, Milliman Solutions learned that PBI had experienced a data security incident that affected the data of insurance companies that do business with Milliman Solutions. PBI used the MOVEit file-transfer service created by Progress Software that suffered a vulnerability in May 2023 that allowed unauthorized parties to access the data on companies’ MOVEit servers.
It was noted that the PBI MOVEit breach affected the following insurance companies that do business with Milliman Solutions:
MEMBERS Life Insurance Company
CMFG Life Insurance Company
The Independent Order of Foresters
On July 17, 2023, Milliman Solutions, LLC sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
