December 13 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the Regional Family Medicine data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. It is believed to have impacted as many as 80,166 individuals. The Regional Family Medicine data breach resulted in the below information of certain individuals being compromised:

  • driver’s license or state identification numbers
  • dates of birth
  • biometric data
  • medical information
  • health insurance information
  • account numbers
  • workplace evaluations

What Happened?

According to the Attorney General of Maine, Regional Family Medicine reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On June 26, 2023, the company experienced an IT outage, preventing access to certain systems. This prompted Regional Family to launch an investigation confirming that an unauthorized party was able to access its network between June 8, 2023 and June 26, 2023. The unauthorized party accessed and may have acquired files containing confidential patient information. On December 12, 2023, Regional Family Medicine sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
