July 19 – The Sound Community Bank data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack. The Sound Community Bank data breach resulted in the name, Social Security number, online banking username, address, email address, account number, date of birth, bill pay information, and account history of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 14,686 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Sound Community Bank reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack. On April 3, 2023, one of Sound Community Bank’s vendors uploaded some online banking information belonging to certain Sound Community Bank customers. On June 13, 2023, the vendor notified Sound Community Bank that some customer information was transferred using the MOVEit file transfer software that experienced a vulnerability back in May 2023. On July 18, 2023, Sound Community Bank sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
