June 29 – The Talcott Resolution Life Insurance Company (“Talcott”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the third party data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent cybersecurity attack at PBI Research Services. The Talcott data breach resulted in the names and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 552,821 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Talcott Resolution Life Insurance Company reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The data breach occurred on May 29, 2023, and involved a zero-day vulnerability within the MOVEit file transfer software used by PBI Research but developed by Progress Software. However, PBI Research was alerted to the vulnerability until June 4, 2023 after which an investigation was launched. On June 28, 2023, Talcott Resolution Life Insurance Company sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
