The UCLA data breach resulted in the names and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. At this time, it is unclear how many individuals were affected.

What Happened As A Result Of The University of California, Los Angeles Data Breach?

According to the Attorney General of California, University of California, Los Angeles reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent cyber security attack at Progress Software. On May 31, 2023, Progress Software identified a vulnerability within MOVEit, which allowed hackers to access information within MOVEit. On June 1, 2023, the UCLA IT team determined that the vulnerability was exploited by an unauthorized party on May 28, 2023, which gave the hackers access to confidential information stored within UCLA’s MOVEit platform. On June 22, 2023,, University of California, Los Angeles sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
