According to the Attorney General of Maine, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. On June 1, 2023, Allegheny County became aware of a vulnerability within the MOVEit file-transfer software, created by Progress Software, that they used to send and receive data, including confidential information. Allegheny County launched an investigation and confirmed that the files were accessible through the County’s MOVEit server. It was later determined that some of these files contained sensitive information belonging to certain residents. On July 28, 2023, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
