July 8 – The Ambry Genetics and REALM IDx (“Ambry”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent cyber security attack at the Vitality Group International, Inc. The Ambry Genetics and REALM IDx data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, work email addresses, genders, dates of birth, and home addresses of certain individuals being compromised.
According to Vitality’s filing with the Attorney General of Vermont, Ambry Genetics and REALM IDx reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent cyber security attack at the Vitality Group International, Inc. Vitality Group provides Ambry and REALM IDx with certain services, requiring Ambry and REALM IDx to provide Vitality with personal information about its employees. Vitality uses the MOVEit file-transfer software, which was created by Progress Software, LLC. On May 30, 2023, Progress Software discovered a zero-day vulnerability that allowed hackers to access information that was transferred using MOVEit. An investigation was launched and it was determined the MOVEit vulnerability allowed an unauthorized party to access confidential information belonging to Ambry and REALM IDx employees. On June 30, 2023, Ambry Genetics and REALM IDx sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
