July 17 – The AMC Theatres data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent cyber security attack at Progress Software. The AMC Theatres data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and medical information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Texas, AMC Theatres reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent cyber security attack at Progress Software. According to a news source, the Cl0p ransomware group recently added AMC to its list of MOVEit victims. On May 31, 2023, Progress Software announced that MOVEit file transfer software contained a vulnerability which allowed an unauthorized party to access information stored within certain companies’ MOVEit servers. AMC has not publicly confirmed that the recently filed data breach was related to the MOVEit vulnerability. However, the company conducted an investigation to determine what data was affected and the individuals whose information was compromised. On July 14, 2023, AMC Theatres sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
