October 10 – The Auto Club Trust, FSB data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Auto Club Trust data breach resulted in the names, contact information, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, and bank account information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 46,033 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Auto Club Trust, FSB reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The company recently learned that one of its third-party service providers experienced a data security incident related to that company’s use of MOVEit, the popular file-transfer software. Auto Club Trust’s vendor used MOVEit, and on May 31, 2023, Progress Software announced a vulnerability within its software. This vulnerability allowed unauthorized parties to access information stored on MOVEit servers, including the one belonging to the vendor. After conducting an investigation, the vendor determined that certain files containing confidential consumer data were accessible to an unauthorized party between May 29, 2023 and May 31, 2023. On October 6, 2023, Auto Club Trust, FSB sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
