August 28 – The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (“BCBSIL”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois data breach resulted in the names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, Social Security Numbers, claim numbers, bank account numbers and medical service information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 192,000 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On June 23, 2023, BCBSIL learned that protected health information belonging to certain customers was accessed by an unauthorized party on June 21, 2023, at a vendor of TMG Health. TMG Health provides third-party administrative services to Medicare enrollees of HCSC Insurance Services Company. HISC is contracted with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to offer this product. On August 14, 2023, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
