October 2 – The Builders Mutual Insurance Company Inc. data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Builders Mutual Insurance data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, medical information, health insurance information, and workers’ compensation information of certain claimants and current and former employees being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 64,761 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Builders Mutual Insurance reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On December 14, 2022, Builders Mutual detected suspicious activity within its computer network. The company launched an investigation and confirmed that an unauthorized party had gained access to its computer system on December 14, 2022 and that certain files were copied from the network the following day. Some of these files contained confidential consumer information. On September 29, 2023, Builders Mutual Insurance sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
