August 15 – The Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. According to the Attorney General of Maine, Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent ransomware attack. On or around March 9, 2023, Cummins Behavioral Health discovered a ransom note within its IT environment, which was placed by an unauthorized party. However, Cummins notes that, unlike the case with many ransomware attacks, the hackers did not encrypt the company’s files. The company launched an investigation and confirmed that an unauthorized party had access to portions of its IT network between February 2, 2023 and March 9, 2023, including some files containing confidential consumer information. On August 11, 2023, Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
