February 23, 2022 – Recently, Logan Health Medical Center announced that the hospital was the victim of what it characterizes as a highly “sophisticated criminal attack” targeting certain files on servers containing sensitive employee and patient information. According to a letter issued by Logan Health Medical Center, the hospital first noticed signs of suspicious activity on one of its servers on November 22, 2021. On January 5, 2022, Logan Health Medical Center confirmed that an unauthorized party accessed files containing protected health information of certain employees and patients. On February 22, 2022, Logan Health began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was contained in the affected files. It is believed that the Logan Health data breach impacted as many as 213,543 individuals.

The hospital provides a wide range of healthcare services and specializes in cardiovascular care, oncology, neuroscience and spine care, orthopedics, women’s health, surgical care, pediatrics and behavioral health. Logan Health Medical Center employs approximately 500 physicians and 3,000 other employees. Together, all Logan Health facilities employ more than 4,300 employees. The Logan Health system serves 13 counties in Montana, spanning 13 counties.
