October 19 – The BHI Energy data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The BHI Energy data breach resulted in the names, health information, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 91,269 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, BHI Energy reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On June 29, 2023, BHI learned that its network had been encrypted. The company informed law enforcement, secured its systems and then launched an investigation. The BHI investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party had accessed and downloaded BHI business records, including some files that contained confidential information belonging to beneficiaries of BHI’s self-insured employer-sponsored health plan. On October 18, 2023, BHI Energy sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
