November 2 – The Deer Oaks Behavioral Health (“Deer Oaks”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Deer Oaks data breach resulted in the names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, diagnosis codes, insurance information, and treatment service type of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 171,871 individuals.
According to a notice posted on their website and the Attorney General of Maine, Deer Oaks reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On September 1, 2023, Deer Oaks learned that an unauthorized party had potentially gained access to its computer system. The company launched an investigation that confirmed that the unauthorized party was indeed able to access one segment of its IT network. Further investigation revealed that this part of the company’s network contained confidential patient information. On October 31, 2023, Deer Oaks sent 
out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
Deer Oaks is a behavioral health provider based out of San Antonio, Texas that provides clinically effective psychological and psychiatric services to residents of long-term care and assisted living facilities. The company partners with more than 1,500 service providers across the United States.
