November 23 – The Enstar, Inc. data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Enstar data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 64,934 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Enstar reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Enstar acquires and manages insurance companies and portfolios of insurance business from other insurance companies and groups. As a result, the company receives information about certain consumers who make insurance claims. Enstar uses the MOVEit secure file transfer software, which was created by Progress Software. On May 31, 2023, Progress Software announced a zero-day vulnerability that impacted MOVEit. Enstar installed all software updates and launched an investigation that confirmed that hackers accessed the company’s MOVEit server between May 29, 2023, and May 31, 2023, and exfiltrated data during that time. On November 20, 2023, Enstar US sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
