November 10 – The Greater Rochester Independent Practice Association Inc. (“GRIPA”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The GRIPA data breach resulted in the names, protected health information and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 279,156 individuals.
According to a notice posted on their website, GRIPA reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. GRIPA provides services for various healthcare providers, and has provided patient PHI to perform these services. On May 31, 2023, GRIPA learned of the MOVEit vulnerability, a file transfer software created by Progress Software. However, the vulnerability within MOVEit enabled hackers to access files stored within the GRIPA’s MOVEit server. Some of these files contained confidential consumer information. GRIPA confirmed unauthorized access to 
certain files on June 5, 2023. On October 26, 2023, GRIPA sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
Greater Rochester Independent Practice Association Inc., or GRIPA as it is more commonly known, is a health care provider based in Rochester, New York. GRIPA comprises over 1,300 physicians and their affiliate hospitals.
