October 20 – The Kwik Trip data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Kwik Trip data breach investigation is still ongoing and it is not yet clear if any confidential consumer data was compromised.
According to a post on the company X, formerly Twitter, account, Kwik Trip reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. According to this source, on October 8th, Kwik Trip started experiencing an IT outage impacting the company’s Kwik Rewards program, as well as its support systems, phone systems, and email systems. The incident was initially referred to as a “network incident.” However, in the more recent posts, the company uses the term “outage.” Kwik Trip has released little information about the incident, potentially due to a pending 
investigation. For example, when BleepingComputer reached out to the company asking about the incident, a Kwik Trip representative responded that the company has retained security experts but that there is no evidence suggesting any data was stolen. Once the investigation is concluded and it is determined that data was in fact stolen, Kwik Trip will send out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
Kwik Trip, Inc. is a convenience store chain based out of La Crosse, Wisconsin that operates more than 800 convenience stores and gas stations in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. In Illinois, Iowa, and South Dakota, the company does business under the Kwik Star.
