November 14 – The Sutter Health data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent cyber security attack at Welltok, Inc., a Virgin Pulse company (“Virgin Pulse”). The Sutter Health data breach resulted in the names and protected health information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 845,441 individuals.
According to a notice posted on their website, Sutter Health reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent cyber security attack. On September 22, 2023, Virgin Pulse notified Sutter Health that it had been affected by a vulnerability within the MOVEit file-transfer application created by Progress Software. Progress Software confirmed the zero-day vulnerability allowed hackers to access companies’ MOVEit servers. Virgin Pulse applied all available patches and took the recommended steps to mitigate any unauthorized access. The company launched an investigation and confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access its MOVEit server between May 30, 2023 and May 31, 2023. Virgin Pulse began sending out data breach letters to those individuals whose 
information was affected by the breach.

Virgin Pulse is a healthcare software company based out of Providence, Rhode Island. The company is partially owned by Virgin Group, the large multinational venture capital conglomerate headquartered in London, England.
