November 23 – The University of Michigan (“U of M”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The University of Michigan data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account or payment card numbers, and health information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 61,033 individuals.
According to a notice posted on their website, University of Michigan reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On August 23, 2023, U of M detected unusual activity within its computer network. The university disconnected its campus network and launched an investigation that confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access its system between August 23, 2023 and August 27, 2023. On October 23, 2023, University of Michigan sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
