December 19 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the DonorView data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The DonorView data breach resulted in the information of certain donors being compromised.

What Happened?

According to various news outlets, the DonorView data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Infosec researcher, Jeremy Fowler, found a 465-gigabyte database containing more than 948,000 records left unsecured. It is believed that the database belongs to DonorView, although this has not yet been confirmed. The database contained payment details, including monthly summaries from PayPal and Venmo, payroll deductions, checks, and credit cards. Also, some donation records contained specifics of the various transactions and how often the individual made donations. The database also contained donors’ names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. If DonorView is able to confirm the information is indeed theirs, they will be required to send out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
