June 8 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the EFS Advisors data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. It is believed to have impacted as many as 31,042 individuals. The EFS Advisors data breach resulted in the below information of certain individuals being compromised:

  • names,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • financial account information,
  • and driver’s license numbers

What Happened?

According to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, the EFS Advisors data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On February 22, 2024, the company identified suspicious activity within its computer network prompting EFS to secure its network and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that the incident resulted from a zero-day vulnerability in a software program used by an external IT provider. On May 23, 2024, EFS Advisors sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
