August 14 – The EMS Management and Consultants Inc. data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. The EMS Management and Consultants Inc. data breach resulted in the name, date of transport, Social Security number, date of birth, financial account information, encounter/transport number, billing codes and other patient information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 223,598 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, EMS Management and Consultants Inc. reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. EMS Management and Consultants provide medical billing services to emergency medical service providers and to complete these services, medical providers give the company information related to services provided to certain individuals. EMS Management and Consultants uses the MOVEit file-transfer software. On May 31, 2023, and again in June 2023, Progress Software, the developer of MOVEit, announced that MOVEit had been compromised. On August 9, 2023, EMS Management and Consultants Inc. sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
