August 15 – The Ernst & Young data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. The Ernst & Young data breach resulted in the names, addresses, financial account information, debit or credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, and other government-issued identification numbers of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, Ernst & Young reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at Progress Software. Ernst & Young provides consulting, advisory, and tax services to Bank of America which requires them to provide Ernst & Young with certain personal data. In the regular course of business, Ernst & Young uses the MOVEit file transfer software. MOVEit is created by Progress Software. On May 31, 2023, Progress Software informed Ernst & Young that MOVEit suffered from a security vulnerability. Ernst & Young secured its systems and launched an investigation into the incident with the help of third-party data security specialists. On August 9, 2023, Ernst & Young sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
