August 26 – The First Farmers Bank & Trust (“FFBT”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The First Farmers Bank & Trust data breach resulted in the names, financial account numbers, employee identification numbers, addresses, genders, email addresses, phone numbers, zip codes and loan numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 87,000 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, First Farmers Bank & Trust reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. First Farmers relies on various third-party vendors to perform certain services. One of these vendors uses the MOVEit file-sharing program. On July 12, 2023, FFBT learned through its vendor that an unauthorized party was able to exploit a vulnerability within MOVEit. The vendor also informed FFBT that the unauthorized party gained access to confidential information belonging to FFBT clients through the vendor’s MOVEit server. On August 15, 2023, First Farmers Bank & Trust sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
