October 6 – The Flagstar Bank, N.A. data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent cyber security attack at Fiserv. The Flagstar Bank and Fiserv data breach resulted in the names and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 837,000 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Flagstar Bank reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Fiserv is a third-party vendor that Flagstar Bank uses for payment processing and mobile banking purposes. Fiserv uses the secure MOVEit file-transfer application. Back in May 2023, Progress Software, the creator of MOVEit, discovered a vulnerability within the program. Fiserv launched an investigation and confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access files on Fiserv’s MOVEit server between May 27, 2023 and May 31, 2023. Flagstar Bank customer information was among the data stored on Fiserv’s MOVEit server. On October 6, 2023, Flagstar Bank sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
