On November 19, 2023, the center detected unusual activity within its computer network prompting them to contain the incident and launch an investigation. It was determined that an unauthorized actor accessed and acquired confidential patient information. On December 22, 2023, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information as affected by the breach.
