September 1 – The Gaston College data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Gaston College data breach resulted in the names and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 191,000 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Gaston College reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On or around February 22, 2023, Gaston College detected suspicious activity within its computer environment. The college secured its systems and then launched an investigation. Gaston College’s investigation confirmed that there was unauthorized access to the college’s computer network between February 21, 2023 and February 22, 2023. It was later determined that some of the files that were accessible to the unauthorized party contained confidential consumer information. On August 25, 2023, Gaston College sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
