Data Breach AlertAugust 6 – The Group 1001 data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Group 1001 data breach resulted in the names, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers of certain individuals being compromised.

What Happened As A Result Of The Group 1001 Data Breach?

According to the Attorney General of Maine, Group 1001 reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent ransomware attack. On February 9, 2023, Group 1001 was alerted to a possible ransomware attack. In response, Group 1001 secured its system and launched an investigation and confirmed that hackers were able to access and remove certain files from the company’s computer network. It was later determined that some of these files contained confidential information related to certain employees as well as customers of First Security Benefit Life Insurance and Annuity Company.

One of Group 1001’s subsidiaries, Clear Spring Life and Annuity Company, also filed a notice of data breach with the Maine Attorney General on July 27, 2023. In this letter, the company indicates that the breach affected customers of First Security Benefit Life Insurance and Annuity Company. Specifically, their names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and contract/policy numbers. Group 1001 sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
