July 15 – The GuidePoint Security data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at the Vitality Group. The GuidePoint Security data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, mailing addresses and dates of birth of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, GuidePoint Security reported a data breach after they were affected by a recent third party cyber security attack at the Vitality Group. Vitality provides employee-wellness services to GuidePoint which requires them to give Vitality certain confidential information about its employees. Vitality uses MOVEit file-transfer software, created by Progress Software, LLC. On May 30, 2023, Progress Software announced a critical vulnerability in the MOVEit software that allowed hackers to access information stored on its client’s MOVEit servers. Vitality identified the vulnerability on June 1, 2023, and disconnected the MOVEit software from its server to prevent unauthorized access. Vitality Group sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach on behalf of GuidePoint Security.
