According to the Attorney General of Maine, Harrisburg Medical Center reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On December 23, 2022, the company discovered unusual activity within its computer system and launched an investigation to determine the cause. The Southern Illinois Healthcare – Harrisburg Medical Center investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party accessed its systems between December 19, 2022 and December 23, 2022. The unauthorized party was also able to access and acquire certain documents containing confidential patient information. On December 12, 2023, Harrisburg Medical Center sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
