About Hitachi Energy

Hitachi Energy is a Japanese energy and technology firm that is part of the broader Hitachi Group. Hitachi Energy provides a range of carbon-neutrality-focused solutions to its industrial, infrastructure, and utility clientele. Information About the Hitachi Energy Breach

According to a March 17th, 2023 blog post, Hitachi Energy has learned that Fortra, a third-party software supplier for Hitachi, was the victim of a ransomware attack on the GoAnywhere MFT platform.

Hitachi Energy concluded that a third party may have gained access to employee information as a consequence of the data breach. After hearing about the Fortra ransomware attack, Hitachi took precautions to protect its infrastructure, severed ties with Fortra’s network, and enlisted the help of outside data security experts to determine whether any sensitive employee information was compromised.

According to Hitachi Energy’s internal investigation, hackers were successful in accessing the private information of some of the company’s employees. They launched a thorough investigation of the stolen files to ascertain what data had been exposed and how many consumers had been affected.

Hitachi started notifying everyone whose personal information was exposed on March 17, 2023, through data breach notification letters.
