According to a University of Mississippi Medical Center website notice, the Horne, LLP data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. In December 2021, the company identified suspicious activity within its computer network. In October 2023, Horne confirmed that certain University of Mississippi Medical Center patient data was affected as a result of the incident. The incident did not involve a breach of UMMC’s IT network, as all leaked data was stored on Horne’s systems. On January 13, 2024, Horne, LLP sent out data breach letters to those University of Mississippi Medical Center patients whose information was affected by the breach.
