September 22 – The Lakeland Community College data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Lakeland Community College data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, financial account information, credit or debit card information, passport numbers, medical information, and health insurance information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 286,000 individuals.
According to the Attorney General of Maine, Lakeland Community College reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. Earlier this year, Lakeland detected suspicious activity within its computer system. The company immediately launched an investigation into the incident and confirmed that an unauthorized actor was able to access portions of the college’s computer network between March 7, 2023 and March 31, 2023. It was later determined that some of the files that were compromised contained confidential data. On September 19, 2023, Lakeland Community College sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
