According to the Attorney General of Maine, the Lewis & Clark College data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On March 3, 2023, the college detected unauthorized access within its computer network prompting them to secure their system and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access its computer system and remove data on February 28, 2023, including confidential student data. On March 22, 2024, Lewis & Clark College sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
Lewis & Clark College is a private college located in Portland, Oregon that is comprised of three schools: the undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Education and 
Counseling, and the School of Law. The student body is made up of approximately 2,100 undergraduate students and 1,400 graduate students.
